chevron doll quilt for Blogger's Quilt Festival

It's festival time again!  Thank you again to Amy for sharing her "creative side" and masterminding this great event.

This doll quilt is being entered into the "mini quilts" category.  It's made with the scraps from a matching chevron quilt.

The fabric is "Let's Pretend" by Sarah Jane Designs.

She is a beautiful illustrator and fabric designer.  Sarah Jane sells her designs in lots of shapes and sizes, including wallpaper and jewelry!  You can see her stuff here.

How fun to have a matching doll quilt to go with your own quilt!!!

You can learn more about the bigger quilt  here.

gene pool in reel time - Blogger's Quilt Festival

Gene Pool in Reel Time was inspired by a quilt made by Jen Kingwell.

This fabric is designed by Zen Chic for Moda, which I purchased at the Houston market which you can read (or rather, see cool pictures) about here and here.  This fabric isn't due out for a few months.

It's a great line of fabric for all you film critics.

I'm entering this into the small quilt category.

quilt stats:
34 x 45 (washed)
22 fabrics - Reel Time by Zen Chic for Moda
cut (8) 3 1/2 " sqs.  of 22 fabrics (plus a few extra)

It will hang nicely in our theatre (tv room)

wip - plus 2 in reel time

I had to break into some of my market fabric and FAST!

Zen Chic's new line is due out in April 2015.  You can sign up to be notified when it hits your favorite online quilt store here.

It's got great boy colors.  I'm using it for a wall hanging in our theatre.

It's got a fun film theme, with tv's (the old fashion kind), reels, film, and credits.

I love the contrast in the colors and shapes.

Ready for quilting.

another - Plus in Pink

Plus in pink is finished!

cut squares are 5 inches
Kona PFD Bleach white for the negative space
White and Warm for the batting

You can read about the quilting of "pink plus" back here.

just love this new easy "tag" :)

you can find more about this quilt back here

There's just something rich about concentric circles.  It's worth all the time it takes to bury those threads.

I bought my pumpkins this year from an old farmer selling them out of the back of his trailer.  He had on the dirty overalls and everything . . . made me feel so good :)

He told me that if I would seal my pumpkins with a spray varnish or something, they'd last longer.  (I chose "something".  Note to self, spraying would go much faster)

Happy Fall!

rag sheers

I've made a lot of play quilts with raggy bindings lately.  They're a perfect baby gift.

They're 1 1/4yd square, one solid piece of fabric on each side.

Raggy bindings are quick and give some fun texture.  You can learn how to make them here.

Since I make so many raggy bindings, I invested in these rag snippers.  They're amazing.  I can snip a baby quilt in less than 5 minutes with no sore joints or stiffness! (in case you think I'm being wimpy, just wait,   it comes when  you reach the 50 club!)  They really do all the things they say they do (below)
