noteworthy plus

My finish for the week, noteworthy plus quilt top.

Note to Moms with kids in school:  Don't ever let your teens tell you they won't ever use the math they're learning!  I really need to take a quilt math class . . . or just learn to follow a pattern :0

Finish it Friday . . . Thank you AmandaJean!!

  1. I now give my quilt math to my 9-year-old, she's usually much more accurate at it than I am :-).

Really pretty quilt, looks like your math worked!

  2. Hi Linda,
First, let me say that I love the name of your blog and the picture of that beautiful Maidenhair fern. I was a gardener before I was a quilter. However, I was a math teacher before I was either of those two things. In my geometry classes that I taught, I would often try to bring in some practical uses of geometry from everyday life. Nowadays, when I am teaching adults to quilt I do mention that some of finding the size of setting triangles goes back to algebra formulas. They just grin and start hunting for the charts. LOL I enjoy your blog very much. The grey and white block to add to the other cross blocks makes that a beautiful quilt top. Whoop, Whoop for you!

  3. I am so glad I was good at math at school - its not always easy to work out all the measurements without a pattern :-) the whole idea of math, the problem solving skills is essential in life. I use them every day. The quilt is wonderful. I love the fabric line you chose.

  6. I love this post - I always enjoyed math at school, but still make some pretty silly calculating mistakes when quilting. My hubby does woodworking and his famous mantra is "measure twice, cut once", but it helps if your measurements are correct....if you know what I mean.

I love this quilt - good job! Especially the colors...they make me happy :)

  8. Cindy, I had to modify Cluck Cluck Sew's pattern called: Plus Quilt. It's a great pattern. I'll write more about it in the post with that finished quilt.

  10. I recently took a quilt math class that was so enlightening! So helpful! I've been sad I didn't pay better attention in my math classes in the past. Your blocks are beautiful!
